TCBtW #11 - The Children Review

Game of Thrones season 4 has been a runaway roller coaster and it all culminated in last week’s finale, “The Children”, when showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss delivered the greatest Father’s Day gift HBO has ever seen. Now, The Cast Beyond the Wall has returned and is here to talk about all of the game-changing deaths that were carried out in the epic finale.

Austin, Daniel, and I start off by debating whether or not Stannis should have made his surprise appearance last week before we talk about all of the exciting possibilities of a Jon Snow/Stannis team-up. Elsewhere, Mance Rayder is finally back and it looks like his true motives may have been revealed. Further North, Bran finally arrives to see the long foreshadowed Three-Eyed Crow and the reveal is equal parts baffling and shocking. In the south, Arya and the Hound run into the old fan-favorites Brienne and Podrick for one of the best fights in Game of Thrones history.

That’s not all, though, as everyone’s favorite Mother of Dragons and Breaker of Chains continues to learn hard lessons now that one of her dragons has killed a child, and in one of the saddest moments of the season so far, Daenerys is forced to lock her pets in chains to protect her people. Has her luck finally run out?

Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Tywin is having a rough Father’s Day as Cersei spills the beans on her affairs with Jaime, and Tyrion gives him a surprise visit while he’s on the toilet.

“The Children” gave us a number of deaths, too, with Jojen, Shae and Tywin all being taken off the map. How will this change the world of Westeros and how will the Lannisters maintain their power? Tune in for the latest episode of The Cast Beyond the Wall to find out!

TCBtW#10 - The Watchers On The Wall Review

It’s been four years in the making, but the Wildlings have finally made it to the wall for one of the most epic battles in TV history. We apologize for the lateness, folks, but The Cast Beyond the Wall has arrived just in time to discuss this climactic and hugely polarizing episode of Game of Thrones! Austin, Daniel, and I are joined by a former professor and avid Thrones fan Mark Pickens to weigh in on whether or not there’s any hope for Sam as the Thenns attack.

This week’s episode revs up the epic scope to an eleven as it tries to give the unforgettable “Blackwater” a run for its money as the most bombastic Game of Thrones episode yet! Swords will clash and blades will bleed as Mark and Austin argue Sam’s newfound meaning and leadership while Daniel and I can’t seem to agree on how well the battle ended. And all of us try to decide whether we cared enough about Ygritte to mourn her cheesy and anti-climatic death.

Director Neil Marshall returns to the director’s chair and brings his creativity and love of wWildling killing Night’s Watch cooks along with him. Did I mention that there were also giants riding mammoths?

Is this the best episode of the show yet? Is there any hope for Samwell Tarly? Most importantly, will Janos Slynt ever come out of the closet to confront the giants? Tune in and join us on this week’s episode of The Cast Beyond the Wall to find out!

TCBtW #9 - The Mountain And The Viper Review

It’s been a long wait, but the hugely anticipated fight between the Mountain and the Viper came to pass in epic fashion and The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to see it through by giving the legendary Oberyn Martell a worthy sendoff. It’s been eight episodes in the making and the question that everyone wants answered is: does the fight live up to its reputation? We look at that very question and dive right into it, but before we get to the TV fight of the decade, we discuss many of this week’s series-altering events.

The jig is up and Jorah’s early spy games have been revealed. In true Game of Thrones fashion, the reveal is swift and painful for the ever loyal bear knight and we debate whether Dany’s ethics really make sense. Elsewhere, The Vale is getting a twist as Sansa steps up to reveal herself as a force to be reckoned with. Has she finally learned how to use her skills and talents? Will Littlefinger fall head over heels for her? Things are heating up as this shadow player makes his next move toward the throne.

Next week’s episode, The Watchers on the Wall, is preparing for something truly epic and we head north to see how all of the dominoes, including the Boltons, are being set up for the season endgame.

TCBtW Bonus Episode - Game Of Thrones Theories

It may have been an off week in Westeros, but The Cast Beyond the Wall sleeps for no man! This week, we discuss our theories for some of the biggest Game of Thrones mysteries. Austin, Daniel, and I talk about Jon Snow’s mother, the end game of the series and the mystery of Bran’s role in the Song of Ice and Fire. If you’re interested in the magic of Game of Thrones, or Melissandre’s mysterious connection to Rh’llor the Lord of Light, then this is the show for you.

After our Westeros history lesson and fan theorizing, we talk about this week’s biggest Game of Thrones casting news. It may not be confirmed, but a lengthy list of characters that are up for a casting call has been leaked, and Oberyn fans will have plenty to talk about with the bulk of the list being Dorne’s royalty. Win or lose, it looks like House Martell will dominate the screen in season five.

It’s been a long wait to see the battle between Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane and Oberyn “The Viper” Martell, and we pass this final day of waiting by talking about all of our biggest questions. Did we mention that our time away from Westeros has led us to an epic Skyrim vacation? Tune in and don’t forget to submit your favorite theories and your reactions to tonight’s epic Game of Thrones face-off.
